We invest forward! In 2030, we will own and manage 3,500 apartments, primarily through new production of self-owned properties. Below we have listed our upcoming projects.
Chalmers Studentbostäder is taking a major step forward in meeting the growing demand for modern student housing in Gothenburg. The building permit application has now been
submitted for Nya Holtermanska – our most extensive development since the Emilsborg student residence was completed in 1963.
On the site where the Holtermanska Hospital once stood, just 50 metres from the Chalmers campus, three new residential buildings are planned. Together they will provide homes for nearly 500 students in direct connection
to the university. The existing buildings on the site, which today house offices and our student hostel, will remain an active part of our operations and complement what we now call Nya Holtermanska.
Construction is planned to begin in early 2026, with phased move-ins during 2028. The aim is for the entire project to be completed in time
for two important anniversaries:
– The 125th anniversary of the Chalmers Student Union – The 200th anniversary of Chalmers University of Technology in 2029.
The project will be one of the first in Sweden to be developed under the new building regulations introduced by Boverket, as well as the new student housing exemptions that came into force on July 1. These updated rules make it possible to create more homes within the same footprint – a crucial change for meeting
the significant demand for accommodation among students and researchers in Gothenburg.
• 386 student and researcher apartments
• Housing for approximately 500 students
• 2,500 m² of office and commercial space
• Developed under Boverket’s new building regulations and the new student housing exemptions
• Architects: INOBI
• Environmental certification: Miljöbyggnad Gold
• Construction start: Q2 2026
• Phased move-ins during 2028
Akademiska Hus is developing a large detailed paln area on Campus Johanneberg in Gothenburg. The area includes a student housing block – MIRA. Akademiska Hus cooperates with Chalmers studentbostäder regarding student housing. Akademiska Hus has started its planning and our assessment is that a first stage involving extensive infrastructure and procurement of contractors can start Q2/Q3 2026. Chalmers Studentbostäder has entered into an agreement to sublease the property MIRA from Akademiska Hus. The entire MIRA student housing project is expected to be ready for move in by the end of 2028 at the latest. The project will result in a varied range of apartment types for students.
Together with the City of Gothenburg and Göteborgs studenters företagsgrupp AB we plan to develop the fringe zone on the west side of Gibraltargatan into a better, more interesting and exciting place for everyone. This by developing beautiful, climate-smart and green buildings. Qi 2021 detailed planning work started with the City Planning Administration.

We plan to exploit the student housing area at Emilsborg with new student apartments inside the yard, without removing the existing qualities of the yard. The City of Gothenburg, in collaboration with Chalmers Studentbostäder, has decided to move the start of the plan to the year 2025. Preliminary completion of the project is estimated for the turn of the year 2028.
