Our housing queue

You can register in our housing queue from the year you turn 17 and can collect up to 365 points. After that, you need to be a member of a student union in Gothenburg to continue collecting points.

Available apartments are published primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you find an apartment you like, register your interest. Those with the highest queue points, usually 5 people, will receive a viewing offer. The apartment will be offered to the person with the highest queue points who still wants it after the viewing.

Please note that the demand for student apartments in Gothenburg is high, so it may take some time before you are offered a viewing.

Rules for the housing queue

  • You receive points for each day you are in the queue.

  • If you are a member of a student union in Gothenburg, you receive two (2) points per day; otherwise, you receive one (1) point per day.

  • If your student union membership expires before you make a new payment, you will not receive points for the days you are not a member.

  • Preparatory points can be collected before you are a member of a student union or have a contract with us, but they only apply before you become a student.

  • Remember to log in every six (6) months to maintain your points.

  • When you move into a new apartment, you need to activate your registration again to start collecting points.

Before you apply

When you sign your tenancy contract, you need to be able to show that you are a student by presenting your application or registration for the upcoming semester. You also need to show your student union membership.

Starting studies in the fall

  • You can receive up to three (3) viewing offers simultaneously.

  • You can reject offers a maximum of five (5) times during a six-month period. After that, you are not entitled to apply for an apartment for three months, but you will continue to collect queue points.

  • Note that if you do not respond to a viewing offer or sign a contract offer on time, it also counts as a rejection.

Other ways to find housing

  • Short-term contracts
Occasionally, we have available apartments with short-term contracts. These contracts are often for a couple of months with no option to extend. These apartments are published in the same place as regular apartments but are clearly marked with “Short-term contract.”
  • Holterman Hostel
Find a studentroom at Holterman Hostel!
  • Apartment exchange
After you have held a tenancy contract for at least 12 months, you can exchange apartments with another tenant. Unfortunately, You will need to find someone yourself. This opportunity only applies to standard contracts. If you have a master’s apartment, research apartment, or short-term contract, you cannot exchange apartments.
