FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions
Housing process (details)
If you are guaranteed housing through Chalmers, the process looks like this:
- Chalmers sends us a list
Mid-June we receive a list of students. - You receive a reservation email
Confirms that you will
receive housing. - You receive login details
- You receive ONE apartment offer
- You sign the contract
When will I receive the contract?
It may take a few weeks after the
reservation email. If you have received
a reservation email, you are on our list.
There is no need to worry if others
receive offers before you, we simply
send them out in stages.
This depends on when the previous
tenant moves out and when the
apartment is prepared. As long
as you have received the
reservation email confirming
your reservation, you are
guaranteed to receive
one offer.
Can I prepare anything?
Yes, we recommend that you:
- Check your spam folder
- Use the same email everywhere
We will send all information to the email
address provided by Chalmers University
of Technology.
Log in details (My Pages)
Which Identity Number should
I use when logging in to My Pages?
You should use the Identity Number
provided by Chalmers University of
Technology (the same number registered
in your Chalmers account). This number
is used to create your customer profile and
collect queue points.
If you cannot find your Identity Number,
please contact us at
info@chalmersstudentbostader.se.
Password information
Since new master’s students do not yet
have a password connected to their
Identity Number, you will need
assistance to receive or create one.
Please email
info@chalmersstudentbostader.se
and our Customer Service team will
provide you with a temporary password.
You may register on My Pages before
receiving your housing offer.
Just make sure to use the same
email address as you have used
in your contact with Chalmers
University of Technology so that
we can match your account once
we receive the student list from
Chalmers.
Apartment offer
Are the Master apartments published on the website?
No, Apartments for Master students are
not published on our website.
If some apartments remain available in
July, they may be published as
Short-term contracts under:
This follows a first-come, first-served principle.
What happens if I decline?
You will only receive one offer.
If you decline you will need to
find accommodation on
your own.
Contract
How long do I have to sign?
A few days. If the contract is not
signed on time, the offer will
be given to another student.
Can I change the start date
for the contract?
No, that’s not possible. The
move-in date is already fixed
and settled.
A tenant is living in the apartment until
your contract starts, therefore, there
is no possibility to move in early.
The other apartments have already
been offered to other students, and
the same rules go for them, they
cannot change the start or end date
of their contract.
After the tenant has moved out, we
need time to arrange the furniture
and clean the apartment properly
before you move in. It is a tight
schedule for the cleaners and
our housing hosts to arrange
the apartments on time.
Arriving later?
The same goes for those of you who are
arriving later than the start date of
your contract. It is not possible to
change the start date of your
contract.
Why can’t I apply on the website?
Because this is a separate process via
Chalmers University of Technology.
What if I did not receive an email?
Check your spamfolder and contact
Chalmers University of Technology
if you may be in another list at another
housing company.

- Single bed (90 cm)

Unfortunately you cannot choose the area.
How are apartments assigned?
Randomly, based on the list from Chalmers.
How many people can live there?
2–3 people can live there (but contract is for one person)
Can I exchange apartments?
Unfortunately you cannot exchange apartments.
Move-in & contract period
When is move-in?
Between early August – early September.
(Monday-Friday).
How long is the contract?
Master contracts are fixed-term
contracts, normally for a
maximum of 2 years.
Sometimes the contract is shorter
depending on your study period,
the list from Chalmers and availability.
Can I extend?
Unfortunately not.
Why does My Pages say the contract
is “terminated”?
Master contracts are fixed-term
contracts. This means the contract
already includes an end date, which
is why My Pages shows the contract
as “terminated”
it will be stated for example
From: 2026-08-13
Until: 2027-08-13
This simply means the contract
already has an end date as is stated
on the contract you signed.
Can I move in earlier?
Unfortunately not. The start date of the contract
cannot be changed.
The apartment must first be:
- Vacated by the previous tenant
- Cleaned
- Prepared with furniture
Because of this schedule, early move-in
is not possible.
Can I extend the contract?
Unfortunately not.
After signing the contract
Should I activate the queue?
Yes you should. After signing
the contract, you should activate
your place in the queue through
My Pages. If it is not activated
automatically.
Queue points
- 2 points/day – with Swedish personal
number + union membership - 1 point/day – otherwise
The personal number must be registered
in both systems. Otherwise you will receive
1 point per day.
What happens after my Master contract ends?
After your Master contract ends, you must
search for a regular apartment through
the queue system.
Limited Rental Period
Master’s contracts are valid for a maximum
of 2 years, depending on your study period
(e.g., 6 months or 1 year) and availability.
You can check your contract duration under
“My Pages” >”Contract.”
After the Rental Period
If you need housing after your masters
apartment contract ends, register in our
housing queue to start earning queue
points.
How It Works
– Tenancy contracts are awarded based
on queue points.
– It usually takes 1.5-2 years to receive
your first offer.
– Available apartments are posted on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
To boost your chances of securing future
housing, register in both Chalmers’ system
and our housing queue.
Note: This does not increase your chances
of getting a master apartment.
The total rental period is limited to 6 years,
including time spent in a master apartment.
If you continue with a Ph.D., this limit is
extended by 3 additional years. Submit
an employment agreement to confirm your
Ph.D. status.
