Huskurage – Dare to care about your neighbours

Huskurage is a method that helps neighbours act with care and civil courage when there is concern about violence in close relationships. By looking out for one another, we can help create a safer place to live – without having to know exactly what the right thing to do is from the start.

Dare to care about your neighbours

You do not have to be sure. It is enough that you feel concerned.

1. Knock on your neighbours’s door

Sometimes it is enough to show care and signal that someone hears and sees.

2. Get help if you need it

You can involve other neighbours if the situation feels unsafe.

3. Call the police

Always contact the police on 112 in acute or threatening situations.
If you do not want to stay on your own – get help or call the police.

If you are concerned that a child might be at risk

If you suspect that a child is being exposed to violence or is not receiving the care they need,
contact social services and file a report of concern.

You can make a difference

It can feel difficult to act, especially as a student. Huskurage is not about
intervening on your own – but about daring to care and seeking help when needed.

You can save lives.
