- Move-outs typically happen on Tuesdays, except for public holidays or when the number of move-outs for that week is already full.
- The notice period is at least 7 weeks. Available dates will be shown in the calendar.
- If you are moving to another apartment within Chalmers Studentbostäder, the notice period is at least 4 weeks, and we will manage the termination for you.
- Master or short-term contracts always require at least 7 weeks’ notice.
Confirmation
After submitting your termination, you will receive an email confirmation within 14 days.
Exception – Master’s Apartments or Short-Term Contracts
If you live in a master’s apartment or have a short-term lease, fill out the form to plan your move-out. It is not possible to terminate the contract on My Pages.
Reaching Your Maximum Tenancy Period?
If your maximum tenancy period of six years is coming to an end, and you are not planning a PhD, make sure to terminate your lease.
2. Change of Address
When you move out you will need to change your address at the Tax Office “Skatteverket”, which is easily done on their webpage. To receive your mail to your new address, please change your address a couple of weeks before you move.
Are you moving within Sweden?
Reporting a change of address – Skatteverket
You can report a change of address by using the e-service with your Mobile Bank-id, or by using the form
“Flyttning inom Sverige (SKV 7845)”.
Unfortunately Skatteverket only provides this form in Swedish.
Please contact us if you need help with the form.
Are you moving Abroad?
Fill out the form “Moving Abroad Notification” (SKV 7665)
Upload the form to Skatteverket (If you cannot use the e-service).
After you have filled out the form. Save it and upload it here.
E-mail us “Send us a message” – Skatteverket
3. Want to Move Out Earlier?
Early Move-Out Options
It may be possible to move out earlier if the new tenant agrees.
- We can forward your request to the next tenant, but according to **GDPR**, we cannot share their contact details without consent.
- Alternatively, you can ask the new tenant yourself during the apartment showing.
Exceptions may apply if the apartment is scheduled for renovation or if your move-out coincides with a major holiday. Remember, as the primary tenant, you are still responsible for all contractual obligations until your lease ends.
5. Move-Out Inspection
Inspection Before You Leave
An inspection will be made before you move out to check for wear, damages, and to ensure that all apartment equipment is intact.
- You will receive an email with the inspection date a few weeks after terminating your lease.
- Any damages or unusual wear may result in financial compensation.
Items to Leave Behind
All equipment belonging to the apartment, such as hat racks or curtain rods, must remain in place. If you have user manuals or maintenance guides, leave them for the next tenant.
For furnished apartments, make sure all furniture provided at move-in is still there at move-out.
4. Apartment Viewing
Your Responsibility
According to **The Tenancy Act**, you are obligated to allow prospective tenants to view your apartment. This can be done through photos, videos, or in-person showings. The new tenant will contact you to arrange the viewing.
Exception – If you have a Masters- or shortermcontract, you do not need to showcase the apartment.
6. Furniture and Equipment Transfer
If the new tenant wants to take over furniture or other items, fill out the form and submit it to us. You can find the form here: “Agreement on equipment in the apartment”.
7. Cleaning Before Moving Out
Final Cleaning Requirements
Your apartment must be thoroughly cleaned before you move out:
- Hire a cleaning company, such as Vital Service, with whom we cooperate. They guarantee a thorough clean approved during inspection.
- Or clean it yourself using our cleaning guide:“Succeed With Your Move-Out Cleaning – Our Best Tips”.
If you want to book Vital Städ click here.
RUT deductions may be used provided that the customer of the cleaning service has a Swedish social security number and is registered at the address. Check with The Swedish Tax agency.
8. Returning Your Keys
By the Move-Out Day
You must return your keys to our customer service by 10:00 AM on the day of your move-out, which is the last day of your contract.
- Return all keys, including apartment keys, mailbox keys, Aptus tags, and storage unit keys.
- The final day of your contract is listed under the “Contract” tab on My Pages.
