1. Emergency disturbances – What to do

If it’s serious, call 112
If the disturbance is serious, like an ongoing crime or danger to life, health, or property:

  • Call 112: They will assess what help is needed and manage the situation.

2. What You Need to Know to Feel Comfortable

We all have different habits
In an apartment building, people have different routines and habits, which may lead to disturbances.

Here are some tips:

  • Everyday sounds:
Cooking, vacuuming, and other daily activities can create noise. Be patient with your neighbors.
  • Too loud?
If you’re disturbing someone or being disturbed, reach out to us, and we’ll help find a solution.

3. Noise and disturbances – What applies?

Be mindful of the noise level after 10:00 PM
Everyone should be able to live in a calm and safe environment, so please keep these in mind:

  • Lower the volume after 10:00 PM:
After this time, sound levels should be low to help everyone sleep and relax.
  • Be mindful of loud sounds:
Music, parties, and other noisy activities should be kept at a reasonable level, especially during evenings and nights.

4. If you have a noisy neighbor – Step by step

Step 1: Talk to your neighbor
Often, people don’t realize they’re disturbing others, so it’s best to address it directly:

  • Knock and talk:
Politely explain that the noise (e.g., loud music) is disturbing you.
  • If it doesn’t help:
If the disturbance continues, you can contact the noise patrol for assistance.

Step 2: Report to the noise patrol
If a neighbor continues to disturb or if talking doesn’t help, you can contact the noise patrol:

  • Available 24/7:
    Call 031-772 97 97 between 10:00 PM and 5:30 AM.
  • Cost:
A noise response costs 1500 SEK per incident (charged to the tenant causing the disturbance).
  • Anonymous reports:
You can remain anonymous when reporting a disturbance.

5. Your responsibility as a tenant

Consider your neighbors and shared spaces
As a tenant, you’re responsible for not disturbing others, and also for your guests and pets:

  • Guest responsibility:
If you have guests, make sure they also respect your neighbors.
  • Shared spaces:
Be mindful of noise in areas like the laundry room, hallways, and outdoor spaces.

Risk of losing your lease
If you or your guests repeatedly cause disturbances, it could lead to the loss of your lease agreement.

6. Prevent disturbances – What you can do

Inform your neighbors in advance
To avoid any issues, it’s good to notify your neighbors if something big is happening:

  • Put up a notice:
If you’re hosting a party or have visitors, leave a note in the hallway.
  • Talk to your neighbors:
Knock and let them know you’ll have guests, so they’re aware.

Show consideration
Always be thoughtful towards your neighbors, and make sure to remove any notices once the event is over.
