In December the Planning Committee in Gothenburg accepted the zoning plan for Emilsborg 5. We are therefore one step closer to the construction of 120 new student apartments in Emilsborg.
Right next to our residences on Gibraltargatan 78 in we plan to construct about 120 new student apartments. The apartments will vary in size between 20-55 square meters, and all will have a kitchen and a tiled bathroom with shower and toilet.
– We are building slightly larger apartments here. More than 30 of them are over 40 square meters, says Åke Thunberg, Project Manager at Chalmers Studentbostäder.
What is special about this building is that it is built on a slope which means that heights vary from 5 – 8 floors. Apartments are spread throughout the floors apart from the third level which will house a preschool. The preschool will connect to the park northeast of the building which will provide a nice sheltered outdoor environment.
The project also includes upgrading the existing pavement to include a pedestrian section and a bicycle path, done by the Traffic & Public Transport Authority in Gothenburg.
– Our aim is to build in accordance with Environmental Gold classification by SGBC. Gold classification means that the property is built to high environmental and sustainability standards when it comes to the choice of materials, energy consumption and indoor climate, etc. We succeeded in this in our latest project, Nålskäran on Doktor Forselius Backe, which is Sweden’s first student housing to fulfill the requirements for Environment Gold classification, says, Åke Thunberg.
The zoning plan was accepted by the Planning Committee in Gothenburg in December 2015.The aim is to start construction in the beginning of 2017 with tenants taking up residence during 2018.
