Our rental rules (applicable until 1 April 2017)

NOTE: The rules below are applicable until 1 April 2017. New rental rules will be introduced when Chalmers Studentbostäder switch to the new queuing system in the spring of 2017.
The new rules have not yet been fully established and will be published on this website at a later date.

New queuing system 2017

Study requirement

To be eligible for housing you must be a student at Chalmers or the University of Gothenburg and achieve a pass grade in at least 25 percent (7.5 credits) per term based on full-time study. You can apply for a temporary exemption from the study requirement. Such requests are handled on case-to-case basis and are granted for a maximum of one year.

Maximum six years

Tenancy is limited to a maximum of six years. This period may be extended by a maximum of a further three years for PhD students.

You must be a member of the Student Union

To be eligible for housing you must be a member of Chalmers Studentkåren (Student Union or one of one of the unions within Göteborgs Förenade Studentkårer (Gothenburgs Association of Student Unions)

You must have a home insurance

For the tenancy contract to apply you need to have valid home insurance during the entire tenancy period. As a tenant, you are responsible for your home. Home insurance will provide you with basic protection for your home and your possessions. For instance, in the case of burglary, water damage or fire. Liability insurance is also included, in the event that you cause damage to other property.

Subleasing

You may sublease your apartment but only after you have received approval from Chalmers Studentbostäder. Both you as the primary tenant and the subtenant must fulfill our tenancy requirements and you must have a valid reason for subleasing your apartment. Applications must be received in writing no later than one month prior to the scheduled subleasing date along with verification of your reason for subleasing and and a completed subleasing contract.
